Food was fine, but not really good enough to justify the price, and the beer and hot chocolate were reasonable.The Schlachtensee is one of the pleasanter walks you can have in Berlin... at the end of said walk there is this nice little Biergarten that serves up beer (naturally), hot chocolate and all sorts of tasty treats and savories. Choose a quiet time on a nice day, put your walking shoes on and take the S1 train to Schlachtensee.
I just had a very very nice Rostbratwurst with potato salad, as I said very nice! They did an incredible job renovating it and turn it into a modern Beergarden & Restaurant at the Schlachtensee.I hate to be Debbie Downer but this restaurant has become a shadow of its former self - the prices have exploded, and the portions have gotten smaller. You are in a world class city, but you can drive through a nice neighborhood and end up on a lakeside restaurant serving good food and great beer.I was there this past weekend and thoroughly enjoyed myself. After a careful renovation of the historic guest house, there is a wine shop and restaurant in the old building, which attracts visitors in summer because of its beautiful terrace and in winter because of the cozy fireplace. When I asked for a glass of water next to my espresso I was told that the owner of the place doesn't wish the guests to get a glass of water.
